Organic farming relies on the use of production techniques that do not involve any type of chemical synthesis, such as fertilizers, pesticides, pesticides, etc.. It uses only natural fertilizers, derived from the animal, vegetable or mineral, and biological control techniques.
In this way, the food protected not only the nature and the environment, but also the same human health: foods retain and enhance all of the land, respecting all life and the exclusion of any genetically modified organism.
The philosophy of organic food is the respect of biodiversity and the seasons, in order to achieve multiple objectives: to produce more natural foods, and healthier, without the presence of toxic residues, contributing to a drastic reduction of energy consumption (essential for the production of synthetic chemicals) and preserving the natural environment and agricultural land.
Fertilizers, pesticides and all the substances responsible for pollution of aquifers are severely abolished: to cultivate the land must be completely pure. In fact, they are chosen in locations away from any source of pollution, like factories and highways.
Soil fertility is achieved by using organic fertilizers such as manure, or vegetable (or mixed) as green manure. To ensure crop protection is primarily a precautionary measure, selecting resistant varieties to disease and using special techniques of planting.
Through crop rotation, it inhibits the reproduction of weeds, you can not use herbicides, not growing the same plant on the same ground in a row, on the one hand, it hinders the environment of the pests and, secondly, are exploited more rational and less intensively soil nutrients. In addition, through its subsidiary, undesirable plants are grown in parallel to one o'clock of the other parasites. Also eliminated artificial colors or preservatives: foods are processed, packaged and processed in full compliance with their characteristics and their nutritional values.
The number of heads of livestock is directly tied to the space available: the farming systems adopted must meet the ethological and physiological needs of animals. Prohibited transplantation of embryos, use of hormones to control ovulation and the genetic manipulation of races. The breeding conditions must comply with the innate behavior of animals, the trees should be healthy, properly sized for the load of cattle and constructed so as to allow isolation of the leaders who need medical care.
The transport of animals should be as short as possible. The loading and unloading must be carried out without causing their suffering, is prohibited the administration of sedatives during the trip. The diet should be balanced, according to the nutritional needs of individual animals. Strictly prohibited the administration of appetite-stimulating growth or synthetic preservatives and dyes, urea, faeces or other animal waste, food treated with solvents, Genetically modified organisms and synthetic vitamins.
To protect consumers, today in a special force and strict European regulations, which requires inspection and certification of organic products and production process. As established by EEC Regulation 2092/91, the packaging of organic food must contain, necessarily, the name and the initials of the inspection, the producer code and the words following: "organically - EEC control system". In Italy there are a number of bodies, authorized and approved by the EEC, used for the regular inspection of farms under organic production, verifying the suitability and carrying out specific analysis in order to ensure the implementation of EU regulations.
Organic farming, enhancing the hygienic quality, nutritional and organoleptic quality of the products obtained in a natural way from the earth and its fruits, includes all agricultural systems that promote the production of food and fiber in a healthy way, even from a financial point of view and social as well as nutritional and environmental. The production capacity of these systems, which exploit the inherent soil fertility is closely linked to a profound respect for nature, plants, animals and landscape.
